Together with Pierre Baillot and Rodolphe Kreutzer, Pierre Rode founded the important French-Belgian violin school at the end of the 18th century. The Europe-wide celebrated violinist with his "24 Caprices en Forme d'Études" provides an impressive testimony of his playing style through all keys. Despite concentrating on studying technical phenomena, he created valuable compositions reminiscent of Paganini's pieces of the same name. To this day, the "Caprices" are a milestone in the education of every violinist (university level). The Urtext edition of the G. Henle publishing house clarifies for the first time in detail the sources (first edition and revised edition) and offers the musical text in the "final version" with all historical designations.
