Although the name Oskar Rieding seldom appears in concert programs, he is even more familiar with violin students. Even today, his small concert pieces for violin and piano, written especially for beginners on the instrument at the beginning of the twentieth century, maintain their place in the classroom and class prelude. The B minor Concerto op. 35, with its restriction to the 1st position, is a true entry-level model. Editor Annette Oppermann received energetic support for the Urtext edition based on the first edition: the Slovenian reed specialist Marusa Zupancic contributes an interesting preface to the little-known composer.
