Each of these 6 x 4 sets is a gem in itself! Mozart worked hard on the composition of these six string quartets, which he dedicated to none other than the "inventor" of the genre: Joseph Haydn. Published for the first time in 1785, they have since been reprinted countless times. Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, publisher of this new edition of Henle's Urtext, already wrote the "Critical Report" to the "Haydn" quartets in the New Mozart Edition 25 years ago. Now he presents this core repertoire in a separate edition. The Urtext edition clarifies numerous inaccuracies of previous editions, especially regarding dynamics and articulation, and even corrects some hitherto undiscovered musical errors. Special attention was also paid to optimum readability and suitable turning points.
