Jazz in the Classroom provides opportunities for students to create improvised music by using a combination ofjazz techniques and modern classroom practice. The ten sessions are dev elopmental, starting with rhythm work, echo clapping, “question and answer” work, contrasting “rock” and “swing” feels. This leads on to melodic improvisation over ostinati, movingfrom small note groups to pentatonic scales, modes and finally major sc ales. Ideal for students between the ages of 10 and 14.
