Faure - Romance A Major Op 69 Cello/piano

The small, melodic extremely attractive piece was probably written down in 1894, Faure used an older version for violoncello and organ as a template. Because of the subsequent change of pace to "Andante quasi Allegretto" the originally simple title "Andante" had become impossible, the change to "Romance" corresponds to the cantabile gesture but all the better. After the premiere in November 1894, the piece quickly became popular and is now often played as an encore in concerts. The "Romance" continues the series of shorter Cellowerke Faures in Henle Urtext, for the name of David Geringas could be won.
