Dean - Demons For Solo Flute

Composed for Volume 3, the letter "D" of the integral CD project "From A to Z" by the flutist Sharon Bezaly, Brett Dean makes extensive use of the corresponding note in a seven-minute solo work: "Demons starts with hammering high Ds, to be played in a highly excited and 'demonic' way with an enormous amount of different timbres, articulations, harmonics and nuances. The piece then takes a new direction and reveals a short, but dense 'rondo form'. The first part, dominated by the 'D', returns in the midst of contrasting sections until its energy is used up..."
