Chopin - Scherzo In E Major Op 54 Piano Urtext

It almost looks like method: at almost regular intervals in 1835, 1837 and 1840 Chopin's Scherzi No. 1-3 appeared. The fourth and last piece of this genus followed in 1843 after another 3 years. Compared to the predominantly gloomy predecessors, Scherzo No. 4 is surprisingly cheerful: its spotted chord strings and sparkling runs conjure up the spirit of Mendelssohn Scherzi. Editorally, the work, however, a hard nut. The three first editions, published in parallel in Germany, France and England, have numerous variants, which must be decided on a case-by-case basis, whether they are authentic or not. This task meticulously solves the revised Urtext single edition and makes the tradition exemplary in practice.
