Types of wood

Maple is finely pored and elastic, pearwood has a very constant density,
plum is light, dense and relatively hard; all have in common a relatively strong fundamental-tone character.
Maracaibo- and Indian-boxwood are dense and hard and their sound is full and resonant.
Honduras palisander is hard and heavy and rich in overtones.
Bahia-rosewood is somewhat lighter in weight with a wonderful reddish grain and with a special quality of sound.
Olive is very decorative, comes from the Mediterranean countries and has a very open sound.
The very black, heavy, dense and hard woods have an elegant and lught response:
African and Indian ebony and grenadill from Africa.
Players may choose according to their own personal taste between the above mentioned types of wood.
