Built by the venerated SML factory in Paris in the late 70s/early 80s, the King Marigaux was built as a "stencil" model for King band instruments in America. It bears a good amount of resemblance to the SML Rev D sopranos, particularly in the big flat platter for the LH pinky keys, and the adjustable LH thumb rest. SML horns have developed a cult following among jazz players and savvy vintage collectors, for their colourful tone and personality.

This particular horn is in quite good condition, with around 90% of the original gold lacquer remaining. There is minimal play in the keywork, so the keywork is still running nice and quietly. Many of the pads look to be original, however they are in good clean condition, so with standard finger pressure it's not difficult to play this horn across the range.

Being a vintage horn it has definitely seen good use throughout its life already, so regular care and maintenance will be extra importance in order to keep it in top playing condition, and the tuning and ergonomics will be fairly different to those of modern horns. But all of this comes with the territory of vintage horns, and those who are chasing the classic tone of a vintage horn will find little else with the colour and personality that this horn offers.

Included with this saxophone is the original wood shell case. Pictures to follow!
