A rare and unusual second hand find that's sure to impress orchestral and chamber horn players looking for a versatile and easy-to-drive instrument for high-range horn parts. The Holton descant horn features 5 valves, including a Bb/high F rotor, and a tuning rotor for use with stopping mutes. These horns are used for a different tonal quality and smoother playability for first horn parts, which often call for demanding leaps in the higher ranges of the instrument.

This particular horn was purchased brand new by its previous owner from overseas around 10 years ago, and hasn't seen too much arduous use during this time. The screw bell moves nice and smoothly, and facilitates the use of compact horn cases. The rotors could do with a bit of a clean in the next few months, as 2 of them are a little sluggish, and there are some minor alignment issues with 1 of the stop arms, however it's perfectly capable of a test play in store at our Moorabbin showroom. Following a good service, this American-made descant horn will continue to offer many years of good service.

Included with this horn is the original wood shell carrying case, with separate partitions for body and bell, as well as an extra empty partition for a stopping mute. Pictures to come soon.
