One of the prettiest and most characterful vintage altos we've seen for sale in a long time! This Rev C was built reasonably early in SML's short production history, dating back to circa 1949. SML were a small production bespoke factory in France, whose horns are reasonably thin on the ground nowadays and command a cult following, for their impressive design and  unique vintage sound. The Rev C carries many of the advanced design features of the later Gold Medal models, including rolled tone holes and ribbed keywork construction.

This alto has just received a full repad from our repair workshop, including replacement of all leather pads, as well as the majority of the key adjusting corks and felts, as well as a thorough clean of the body and keywork, and lubrication and adjustment of all mechanisms. Because of this, it is in excellent playing condition, and responds smoothly and evenly across the range. It is being sold with a 6 month adjustment warranty, to cover any settling-in of new pads. Tonally these horns tend a touch darker and more complex than Selmer models of the same era, with a dense tonal core and plenty of warmth and spread on offer. Ideal for fans of a dark, smoky, vintage alto sax sound.

Included with this saxophone is the original wood shell hard case, as well as a short shank hard rubber SML mouthpiece with matching ligature and cap. Test playing is invited at our Moorabbin store - if you're a fan of vintage altos, we're sure you'll be impressed with this one, and may well fall in love too!
