Here's a rare find for vintage tenor enthusiasts, in spectacular condition! Dating back to 1968, this Gold Medal mkII sports the majority of the famed "22 features" that make the Gold Medal some of the most sought after and revered saxes of the 20th century. These horns offered a number of revolutionary new design features, including a nifty movable neck tightening screw, a full complement of adjusting screws, precisely drawn straight tone holes, heavyweight ribbed construction, and an elegant see-saw octave mechanism. Sax nerds will love the intricacies of this horn, but the tone is where it really shines.

Utilising a very large bell and bow design, these horns offer outstanding richness and projection, a hefty tonal core, and a decidedly darker and more spread sound than their other famed French counterparts. Combined with supremely comfortable ergonomics and touchpieces across the whole horn, and a very slick key action, this horn is deeply enjoyable to play. The big bore and bell take a bit of getting used to, and it's a bit more mouthpiece selective than the smaller-bore Selmers, but the reward is a huge, lush sound.

This saxophone has recently received a major service from our workshop, including replacement of all pads with black kangaroo leather pads, and extensive mechanical work to ensure slick, quiet keywork for years to come. Beacuse of this, it is being supplied with a 6 month adjustment warranty, covering any pad, felt or cork adjustments as required. The buyer of this horn can be assured of many more years of reliable service, and spot fixes can be carried out at home with ease by astute saxophone tinkerers thanks to the extensive adjusting screws.

Included with this saxophone is what appears to be the original wood shell hard case, along with a hard rubber SML mouthpiece with a bit of wear and tear, along with a matching ligature and cap, and a well-loved metal ReedGard. If you're in the market for a vintage tenor with plenty of character, you can't overlook this beauty! Pictures to come soon.
